About Me

I am a CanFitPro Certified Personal Trainer with over 20 years experience in sports, training and physical fitness. I train clients in a 450 square foot gym which is located on the ground floor of my home, situated in an older part of Markham, very close to the intersection of Markham Road and Highway 7.

I take my profession very seriously and only allow a select clientele into my studio. I welcome perspective clients to come and have a tour of my home and meet my dog, Karma. I understand that not everyone likes big dogs. If you prefer to come for training on days when Karma is at Doggie Daycare, this can be easily arranged.

If training at my home is not your thing, but you really like what I offer, I can work with you at your own home or gym (provided it is approved by the gym's ownership).

A little more about me

I started working out on my own when I was 15, which means, that I have been doing physical training, in one way or another, for more than twenty years - at least, that's all I'll admit to. Training for me is more than a way to keep fit, it is a way of life. I am a physical person who has to be doing something all the time. I mainly divide my interests into four categories, which are, combat arts, biking, motorcycles and weight training.

Combat Arts

My interest in martial arts and combat sports started when I was in my early twenties with Kung Fu and Kick Boxing at a studio in St. Lambert, Quebec. (I'm from the South Shore of Montreal, by the way). When I came to Toronto in '97 I took up boxing at the infamous Florida Jacks, but none of that was very serious until I was introduced to Thai Boxing by Sean Thompkins during a brief stint in London, On. Sean now coaches some of the best MMA fighters in the world, but I knew him way back when. After coming back to Toronto I joined Siam #1, House of Muay Thai where I trained under Master Suchart, Clifton Brown and who taught me the soul of the art. About a year ago, I took up Jiujitsu with Steve Lin at Lin Martial Arts in Markham.

Two Wheels

When it's not snowing, I am into mountain biking, road biking, downhill biking, and off-road motorcycle riding. When there's snow on the ground, I take my bike indoors and ride it in the basement. Okay, I'll admit it, I'm a fanatic.

The motorcycle thing has been an adult passion. I got into it at about the time when most people have already figured out that it's an insanely dangerous activity. I used to race but more recently I have taken to riding trails and getting into trouble on motocross tracks.
