My Gym

My workout space is a 450 square foot area located on the lower floor of my house. The house is located in an older section of the Town of Markham and is situated on a treed ravine lot which backs onto a conservation area belonging to the Rouge River.

Starting at one end of the gym, I have a full rack of dumbbells with an adjustable bench. There are two Stability Balls and a Bosu Ball to work with which are used for stability and core training.

Next we move to the incline bench for working those abdominals. This is a nice bench because the height can be adjusted.

Now we come to the Body Solid Vertical Leg Raise and Dip machine. This device is designed to reduce the strain in your lower back during leg and knee raises. The forward facing handles are used for dips. The other side of the device features a pull up bar with very comfortable handles. The rings hanging from the machine are used for push-ups, dips and pull-ups. They are great for stability, core training and muscle building.

Kettle Bell training is one of the corner stones of my technique. These weights are great for burning fat, building muscle endurance and strength in the core. It is probably the best way to get your body into shape.

Why are Kettle Bells different from Dumbbells? Working with kettle bells improves strength in several muscle groups at the same time. Dumbbells are excellent for isolating muscles and focusing the effort on one area.

Next we have the machines. The treadmill is a top model which limits bounce and allows for advanced wokouts with a maximum incline of greater than 9% and speed up to 10mph.

Finally, but not least, we have the Concept 2 Rowing Machine. This is a great machine for working out the whole body as well as increasing your flexibility and your aerobic capacity. Working with this machine helps to build muscle, increase endurance and burn lots of fat.
